Experience & Difficulties

If it’s your first time, you can choose between level 1 and level 1 plus. Both activities give you the opportunity of navigating the river without previous experiences. After this step, you can then try for level 2: on the same day (depending on availability) or after few days (so you won’t forget how to do it!). The differences between level 1 and level 1 plus are the duration and the intensity of the activity. The theoretical and practical briefing are common to both levels.

  • WHAT’S hydrospeed?

1970:  3 bridges engineers (Claude Puch, Pierre Simon e Maurice Tiveron), while watching the water stream of a river, had the crazy idea of navigate it downstream with a big air chamber. That was the first ever hydrospeed descent.
Since then, the river knowledge and the materials have evolved and improved, making the hydrospeed a recognised sport accessible to everyone.
The hydrospeed has become a “water sled” on which lying down on your belly. It supports the body and  is easy to control. With your arms and body you can easily manoeuvre the hydrospeed, whilst the flippers make swimming in the river more efficient. Thanks to this, it’s simple to follow your guide amongst rapids, waves and water slides..

  • HOW IT WORKS

Our guides are professional certificated by  Associazione Italiana Hydrospeed .They will teach you the techniques during a theoretical briefing. Before going  to the  river you will also have the chance to practise these techniques on flat water (in the Rafting Republic lake).

  • HOW MANY PEOPLE WE NEED TO DO RAFTING?

From mid-August (or generally after the days with low temperature), the Dora Baltea has less meter cubes of water. The safety conditions change and we just advise 2 levels. Call us to double check if all programs are available.

  • WHAT TO BRING

After the briefing you will be given the technical equipment which comply to international standards and in accordance to the Italian Rafting Federation regulation: long john (5mm for rafting and 7mm for hydrospeed), neoprene boots, splash jacket, helmet and lifejacket.

    • Swimming costume
    • Micro pile to wear under the wetsuit (in case of bad weather)
    • Elastic band for your glasses (it-s ok to wear soft contact lenses)
    • Whatever you need for showering after the activity (we provide hot showers)
