FREQUENT QUESTIONS

How should you dress for a river ride?

Rafting Republic provides the wetsuit, neoprene shoes, helmet and life jacket. We recommend that you keep underwear, a t-shirt (or thermal shirt) and socks under the wetsuit, garments that will get completely wet once in the river. For this we recommend that you bring a change and the necessary for the shower.

I have never practiced rafting, what kind of descent can I do?

Adults over the age of 16 can try any type of descent depending on whether they want to deal with a quieter or more active, shorter or longer experience. No descent is designed only for experienced rivers, but in all of them it is essential to know how to swim and to follow the guide’s instructions.

Can children go rafting?

Children must be at least 6 years old or at least 110cm tall. The only possible itinerary for them is the Family descent. Parents wishing to experience something more can choose the Classic descent, leaving the little ones with our staff: they will join mum and dad on the dinghy only for the stretch that they are allowed.

We are few, what is the minimum number?

There is no minimum number. Rafts are for 6 or 8 persons, so it is likely that if you are few you will be joined by other people. If, on the other hand, you are a group, you will be boarded on the same raft or on nearby dinghies.

What does it take to practice hydrospeed?

Adults over 16 who have never hydrospeed can start at level 1. For those who are already practical, we also offer a 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th level. It is necessary to be aware that in the hydrospeed the risk of bruising and bruising cannot be eliminated, since it is a sport that is practiced completely immersed in water and there is the possibility of hitting the rocks of the river with the lower limbs. The likelihood of major damage is very low.

What do you need to practice kayaking?

Kayaking or canoeing is one of the river sports that requires the most preparation. For those in their first experience, two lessons on canoeing techniques are required before being able to go down to the river. Lessons can be agreed with the teacher and between one and the other Rafting Republic offers the opportunity to practice on your own in the base lake, providing all the necessary material free of charge. The alternative is to get on a two-seater canoe together with the kayaker guide. For those who are already a canoeist, knowledge of eskimo and class 3 waters is required to go down the river together with the guide with individual canoes.

Can I go rafting and canyoning on the same day?

The rafting base and the canyoning departure point are located in two different points in the Aosta Valley, so it is best to reserve two days for the two activities.

Where can you eat?

The bar at the base offers dishes of the day, but there are also those who prefer to bring home the necessary for a barbecue with friends: we provide grills and wood for free. For holders of the Rafting Republic Card, there are several partner restaurants.

Not all members of my group will go rafting, where can they wait for us?

Our base is a quiet green area, equipped with deck chairs and with bar service. Those who do not practice river sports can relax and sunbathe, perhaps reserving the right to watch friends when docking.
