River rafting experience for beginners and sports enthusiasts

Classic rafting is the perfect experience for those who want to experience the Dora Baltea in all its beauty, amid excitement, nature, and mountain views. A route suitable for beginners and sports enthusiasts that allows you to enjoy yourself in safety and spectacular landscapes.

Even those who have never been rafting before can choose this activity, which is one of the most suitable for first-timers: F.I.Raft guides explain every maneuver and accompany the group at all times.

Classic Rafting: nature and adventure

The CLASSIC scenic rafting descent is the basic rafting activity in Valle d’Aosta. The stretch of the Dora Baltea between the Gole dell’Enfer in Leverogne, in the municipality of Arvier, and our base in Aymavilles, offers you the CLASSIC rafting experience: exciting and safe. Even for those who only watch the river from the bridge!

The Leverogne – Arvier – Aymavilles stretch offers 9.3 km of navigation in waters of medium difficulty. It is the most popular descent among our guests: it combines quieter sections with more lively passages, with the guide always on board to manage the route and the safety of the group.

It is also the rafting option in Valle d’Aosta that covers the longest stretch of the Dora Baltea river in a single trip.

During the descent, you will pass through picturesque views of the central Valle d’Aosta, with views of the mountains and the meeting point between alpine nature and the living waters of the Dora Baltea.

Nature and monuments

At the height of the season, we will navigate through hidden landscapes created in the canyon called de l’Enfer, passing through natural scenery in a setting full of positive energy and true symbiosis with the nature of the Valle d’Aosta. The typical Aosta Valley castles along the route open up to view… from one of the most unusual vantage points!

Who accompanies the descent

The excursions are led by professional F.I.Raft certified guides, trained to provide assistance and technical support at every stage.

The Rafting Republic team is made up of instructors with years of experience on the Dora Baltea river and direct knowledge of the Aosta Valley area.

● Cotton or thermal socks that can get wet
● Eyeglass cord

Children under the minimum age cannot participate in the Classic descent due to river classification (accessibility of sections and difficulty of navigation).

However, the Family descent features waves and rapids that are just as dynamic and fun as the longer descents (see also Advanced Descent).

If you have any questions or want to check the suitability of your group, you can always contact the center’s guides directly, who will assess the period, the river level, and the most suitable type of experience.

Please note

Classic Rafting: safety first!

DID YOU KNOW: While navigating the Classic Rafting descent, you can admire works dating back to other times: from the dry stone walls built by skilled craftsmen to create cultivable platforms on the rugged slopes, to the castles that have dominated centuries of Vale d’Aosta history.

In particular, you can appreciate the towers of the medieval castle of Sarriod de la Tour, the ruins of the fortress of Châtel Argent, and the grandeur of the Château d’Aymavilles.
