Tackle the mighty rapids
In 1970, three technicians specialised in bridges and viaducts (Claude Puch, Pierre Simon e Maurice Tiveron), while observing the force of a river current, had the crazy idea of riding it on a ring-shaped object – this is how hydrospeeding is believed to have originated.
Those three fearless technicians would then be remembered as “les nageurs de l’impossible”. Since then, technological advances have been made and hydrospeeding, also known as riverboarding or water sledging, is now a recognised sport, accessible to the general public.
The hydrospeed is an unsinkable foam board on which you lie prone. The board protects you and supports your body throughout your ride and it is highly manoeuvrable.
Use your chest and arms to steer the hydrospeed board, and your fins to provide the thrust to navigate in river currents. It’s easy to follow your Rafting Republic guide through fast rapids, splashing waves and unexpected whirlpools.
CHOOSE THE TRIP THAT SUITS YOU THE MOST
This basic level is designed for those who want to approach hydrospeeding gradually.
Only for those who successfully completed the 1st level with us. This is necessary to be able to sledge a section of the canyon among the most fascinating in Aosta Valley.
If you want to complete the three levels of hydrospeeding, look no further! Thanks to its marvelous river, Aosta Valley is the perfect destination to quench your thirst for water adventure.
Need more info?
We’ll provide you with the full gear!
Our equipment meets both the international standards and the Italian Rafting Federation requirements: a neoprene wetsuit (5mm for rafting, 7 mm for hydrospeeding), neoprene booties, splash jacket (for hydrospeeding you’ll have an extra neoprene jacket and a pair of fins), a helmet and a life jacket.
WHAT TO BRING
We suggest you bring:
thermal t-shirt to be worn under your wetsuit in case of bad weather;
if you can’t do without them, bring laces for your glasses (soft contact lenses are ok);
everything you need to take a shower.
There’s nothing better than the water of June to experience hydrospeeding. The mighty thawing of glaciers at the beginning of the summer fills the Dora river with jumps and waves.
At Rafting Republic safety is paramount and comes before fun.
We want you to have the safest possible trip with us and our river experts are certified and licensed by the FIRAFT (Italian Federation of Rafting).
