FAQ

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What should I wear for my trip?

Rafting Republic provides wetsuits, neoprene booties, helmets and life jackets. We suggest you keep your underwear under the wetsuit, a t-shirt (or a thermal t-shirt) and socks. Keep in mind that everything will get wet once you go on the river. For this reason, we ask you to bring a change and everything you need to take a shower.

Do I need to have previous experience to go rafting?

Adults and youths over 16 can try out every river activity, whether they wish to have a softer and shorter experience or a more thrilling and longer adventure. Our trips are not designed for experienced rafters, but you need to be able to swim and follow your guide’s instructions.

Is whitewater rafting a suitable experience for children?

Children must be at least 6 or 110 cm tall (3 ft 7’’). The only suitable trip for them is our Family Rafting experience. Parents who wish to have a more thrilling adventure can choose the Classic Rafting experience, leaving their kids with our staff. Kids will join mum and dad aboard the raft only for the allowed section of the river.

There’s just a few of us, what’s the minimum number of participants?

There isn’t a minimum number of participants. Our rafts can hold up to 6 or 8 people, so if there’s only a few of you, you’ll be teamed up with other individuals. If you are a group you will be kept together on the same raft or on two close rafts.

I’m new to hydrospeeding, can I still try it out?

Adults and youths over 16 who have never practised this activity can start from the first level session. For the more experienced ones, we offer second, third, fourth and fifth-level sessions. Participants must understand that this activity carries an element of risk that, whether foreseen or unforeseen, could result in bruises and contusions. Since this activity is carried out immersed in water, participants might hurt their lower limbs against river rocks. The risk of serious injury is low.

I’m new to kayaking, can I still try it out?

Among river sports, kayaking or canoeing requires the highest preparation. If you are a beginner, you need to complete two full lessons on steering techniques before entering the river. You can book your private lessons with the instructor and then train by yourself on our lake. You can come to our base, use our equipment and practice as long as you want, free of charge.

Alternately, you can choose to float down the river with a guide on a two-person kayak.

If you are a canoeist and want to take on the river with a guide, but on two different canoes, you need to know how to do an Eskimo roll and be able to ride class III rapids.

I booked a trip but have to cancel it. Will I be refunded?

Your trips cannot be refunded. Nevertheless, your purchase can be converted into a voucher for the same type of activity to be used by the end of the calendar year.

How can I book a trip as a gift?

During the online booking, you have to select the “Will this be a gift” option and enter the name of the person who will receive the gift. Once the purchase is made, you’ll receive a gift voucher, in pdf format, valid for the season, prior reservation.

Can I have both a rafting and a canyoning experience on the same day?

The rafting base and the starting point of the canyoning adventure are located in two different areas of Aosta Valley, so we suggest you book the two activities on two separate days.

Where can we eat?

Our snack bar offers daily specials, but you can bring your own food and throw a barbecue with your friends – we give you free access to our firewood and grilling area.  If you hold a Rafting Republic card, you’re entitled to a special discount on selected restaurants.

Some of us will not take part in the river activity, where can they wait for us?

Our base features a quiet recreational area with deckchairs and snack bar. Those not partaking in our whitewater activities are welcome to unwind and sunbathe at our base – without missing your docking moment.

Is the Adventure park suitable for everyone?

Children must be at least 110 cm tall (3 ft 7’’).

Children under 11 years of age must be accompanied by an adult.
